How can radiant defense help your home?

How can Radiant Defense help your home?

Your Roof Takes the Heat. We Help Fight It.

Here in the Coastal Bend, we’re no strangers to heat. Your roof is exposed to the Texas sun for hours at a time, absorbing and transferring heat into the roof deck and attic below.

That heat doesn’t simply disappear. A hot roof deck can radiate heat downward into the attic, increasing the overall heat load your home has to deal with.

That’s where Area 361 Radiant Defense comes in.

Our professionally applied radiant barrier system is designed to reduce radiant heat transfer at the roof deck, helping your home better manage the heat coming from above.

FIGHT RADIANT HEAT AT THE SOURCE

Traditional insulation is important, but insulation and radiant barriers work in different ways.

Insulation primarily slows heat transfer through conduction and convection. A radiant barrier addresses radiant heat—the energy transferred between hot and cooler surfaces.

Our product creates a low-emissivity surface on the underside of the roof deck, helping reduce the amount of heat that can be radiated into the attic.

Less radiant heat entering the attic means less heat for your home to deal with.

HELP CREATE A MORE COMFORTABLE HOME

If your home has rooms that seem noticeably warmer than others, especially rooms directly beneath the attic, excessive attic heat may be part of the problem.

Our radiant defense system can help reduce heat gain from the roof, potentially making it easier for your home’s cooling system to maintain comfortable temperatures.

Every home is different, and results depend on factors such as roof construction, insulation, ventilation, windows, HVAC efficiency, and the home’s overall design.

That’s why we don’t promise a specific temperature drop or energy savings.

Instead, we look at your individual home and help you understand where improvements may make the most sense.

HELP REDUCE THE LOAD ON YOUR A/C

Your air conditioner already has plenty of work to do during a South Texas summer.

When your attic is absorbing large amounts of heat, that heat can contribute to the overall cooling load of your home.

Reducing radiant heat transfer can help your home manage that heat more effectively and may reduce the amount of work your cooling system needs to do.

The potential impact on your energy use will vary from home to home, but improving the performance of your attic can be an important part of creating a more energy-efficient home.

RADIANT DEFENSE + INSULATION

Here’s something we think every homeowner should know:

Radiant barrier and insulation aren’t the same thing—and they don’t have to compete.

In fact, they can work together.

Your existing insulation helps slow conductive and convective heat transfer, while our product addresses radiant heat coming from the roof deck.

During your assessment, we’ll look at your existing insulation and attic conditions to determine whether it appears adequate or whether additional insulation may be worth considering.

We don’t believe in removing something that is working just to sell you something new.

VENTILATION MATTERS TOO

A radiant barrier is only one part of a well-performing attic.

Proper attic ventilation helps manage heat and moisture through air movement, while our product addresses radiant heat transfer.

That’s why our assessment looks beyond just the roof deck.

We’ll look for things such as:

• Existing insulation

• Attic ventilation

• Roof-deck condition

• Moisture or visible damage

• Accessibility

• Areas of concern

• Potential opportunities for improvement

We look at the whole picture—not just what we can sell you.
